We’ll have a “Welcome to Egypt” breakfast together to meet our staff and fellow travelers. This morning we visit the last surviving ancient Wonder of the World, the great Pyramids of Giza. Over 4,000 years old, the wonder of the pyramids lies not only in the sheer awe of the structures, but in their unknown exact construction methods. Contemplate this question as our Egyptologist leads us to the largest here in Giza -the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Built of approximately 2 ½ million limestone blocks, and weighing six million tons, this great pyramid stands an incredible 480 feet high. Just a few feet away rests the mysterious Sphinx, carved almost entirely from one gigantic piece of limestone. After lunch we’ll visit the famous Stepped Pyramid at Sakkarra and the Bent & Red Pyramids at Dahsur.
